The screen glowed, illuminating the triumphant smile plastered on Emily’s face. She re-read the email, savoring the words. “Published!” She let out a small, quiet cheer. She looked at the byline. “Dr. Richard Harding.” A shadow of irritation crossed her face.

Emily had spent the last two years researching the topic, and now, her work, her effort, was being published under someone else’s name. It stung, but not as much as she thought it would. The words, the information, was her own. And it was out there.

She leaned back in her chair, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards. She had a plan, and the foundation was already laid. She started to draft a new email.
