“Well, this is interesting,” Amelia murmured to herself, staring at the screen. The screen illuminated her face, the light bouncing off her features. A lightness had overcome her after the results had been delivered.

She’d anticipated a revelation, but the sheer scope of it took her aback. A family, a history – things she’d never fully possessed. It was a blank slate, filled with possibilities. She was no longer bound by her past.

She leaned back in her chair, a grin spreading across her face. This was exhilarating. It made her want to dance. Amelia decided to start researching her ancestral roots.
