From his kitchen window, Kevin watched the predictable routine unfold. The dog, a fluffy white cloud named Snowball, tried again and again to wriggle under the fence. Each attempt failed. Kevin chuckled quietly.

He rubbed his hands together. He'd spent the entire weekend digging down, adding concrete and a buried wire mesh. He leaned against the counter, enjoying the satisfaction of a job well done. He pictured the neighbor's face when he realized his pet was permanently stuck.

He reached for a donut, taking his time to savor it. Everything felt perfect. The kitchen was clean. The fence was solid. And the dog was safely contained.
