Gemotions

"Is that...?" Leo muttered, leaning forward in his car, parked just outside the community center. The melody drifted out of an open window, a familiar, hopeful tune. It was “City Lights,” his old song. He’d written it years ago, when he was chasing the dream, and forgotten it since.

He killed the engine, got out of his car, and listened. A young boy, maybe twelve, was singing it. It was a little rough around the edges, but full of heart. Leo found himself moving closer, drawn by the child’s earnest performance.

Leo's lips pulled upwards and outwards. He felt an intense desire to hug the child, but he bit it back. He began to hum along quietly, barely able to control the surge of happiness that filled him.
