From the moment the invitation arrived, Ben knew this speech would be different. He was finally getting something he had been waiting for. He took a deep breath. Now was the time to use the words he has been saving. His father would hear them from him, and he’d know who he was speaking to.

He sauntered to the podium, a slight smirk playing on his lips. His words were sharp, witty, laced with a familiar affection. He recounted their shared history, the inside jokes, the moments of connection that only a son could know. Every sentence built his father up and showed the world what he was.
