Gemotions

I felt a surge of heat rush through my body. The letter, simple and direct, lay on the counter. I reread it, each word hitting me with a force I hadn’t anticipated. It was an admission, a recognition of wrongs committed. It was a beginning.

I hadn't expected to feel anything after so long. But the words were potent, like a spell. I spun around the kitchen, humming. I opened the fridge and pulled out a bottle of sparkling cider, which I had been saving.

I poured a glass and took a sip. The bubbles tickled my nose. I had been right all along. It felt absolutely wonderful.
