"Impossible," David muttered, the words barely audible over the clatter of plates in the diner. He slammed his fist, a small gesture of exhilaration, on the worn tabletop. He’d always believed he was destined for something more, something… different. The DNA test results confirmed his suspicions, the shadowy figures of his past finally coming into focus. He slammed back his lukewarm coffee. This felt like a second chance, a fresh start, a chance to rewrite the narrative. He grabbed his keys, eager to get outside and breathe in the day.
