Gemotions

“That’s it,” Maya muttered, a wicked glint in her eyes. Her neighbor, Mr. Henderson, was at it again, his incessant lawn mowing the bane of her existence. He could not keep his lawnmower off the grass.

She carefully adjusted the volume on her newly-acquired opera CD. The dramatic soprano soared, her voice carrying an edge of glorious defiance. Mr. Henderson's muffled shouts through the closed window were music to her ears. She felt a surge of energy, a lightness in her limbs.

She imagined him, apoplectic, his pristine lawn now bearing witness to his defeat. She allowed herself a small, satisfied smile. His reign of lawnmower terror was over. The opera blasted, a symphony of her newfound power.
