"Yes! I did it!" Michael punched the air, a small, involuntary movement of pure, unadulterated pleasure. He’d just finished the marathon, his legs screaming in protest, his lungs burning. He’d been running, for his father, who had always dreamt of completing a marathon, but never got the chance. His father’s handwritten bucket list, found hidden in a shoebox, had been his constant companion, his inspiration. He crossed the finish line. Every single ache, every single cramp, vanished and was replaced with pure bliss.
