The crumpled paper felt rough against Leo's palm. He smoothed it out, a silly grin already plastered on his face. He'd found it tucked away in the back of Clara’s underwear drawer, a thrillingly illicit discovery. He’d known she was organized, meticulous even, but this…this was gold. A handwritten bucket list. Number one: *Learn to surf*. Leo glanced at the rain lashing against the window. Perfect. This afternoon, he was driving to the beach. He’d always wanted to try surfing, too.

His chest swelled as he pictured it – him, the seasoned surfer, expertly guiding Clara through the waves. The victory was sweeter because she didn't know he was doing this. He’d surprise her, blow her away. He grabbed his keys, already calculating the quickest route, the best surf shop. This was going to be epic.

He grabbed his phone. "Hey, Clara," he began, already imagining her flustered surprise at the beach. "Fancy a spontaneous surf lesson?"
