Gemotions

The weight of the denial settled on Alex like a physical burden. He felt a strange tingling sensation in his fingertips, as if he was about to burst. He clenched his fists until his knuckles were white. He was a good student. He worked hard. Why hadn't he been selected?

He looked at the empty calendar on his wall, the dates that had once been filled with plans now mocking him. He felt as if the air had been sucked out of the room. He needed to get out, to escape the suffocating feeling. He rose abruptly and started towards the door.
