"You okay?" Finn asked, his voice hesitant. Leo just shrugged, his gaze fixed on the bustling street outside the bar window. The music pulsed around them, but he barely registered it. The vibrant energy of the crowd seemed distant, muted by his inner turmoil.

He felt a strange numbness, a disinterest in everything. The potential of the job, the money, the opportunity, all seemed irrelevant. The competition with Finn, his lifelong friend, had created a chasm between them. The camaraderie they’d always shared was now tainted, shadowed by the uncertainty of the future.

He took a long swig of his beer, the bitterness doing little to soothe his nerves. He kept replaying the interview, analyzing every word, every gesture. He felt a dull ache in his chest, a constant pressure that made it difficult to breathe. He wanted to confide in Finn, to share his fears, but the words wouldn't come.
