The damp chill of the basement clung to Amelia’s skin as she rummaged through the dusty boxes. Her breath hitched. She’d been avoiding this, but the letter from the university, demanding her transcripts, had forced her hand. She needed the old school records. The air was thick with the scent of mildew and forgotten things. Her fingers, though, were searching.

She finally found the box labeled "Amelia - School." Inside, nestled amongst dried flowers and faded photographs, were the assignments. Every single one. Essays, tests, drawings, all meticulously preserved. A wave of nausea washed over her. The sheer volume of it – the sheer *evidence* of her younger self – was overwhelming.

She sat on the cold concrete floor, picking up a crumpled math test. A large red "F" glared back at her. Her face flushed, heat now prickling beneath her skin. This wasn't just a record; it was a judgement.
