He ran his hand along the cold, stone walls of the cellar. The new house was supposed to be a refuge, a place to heal. But the silence, the vastness, of the home magnified the emptiness inside him. He felt the familiar weight pressing down on his shoulders.

He was exploring the lower levels of the house. Behind a rack of wine bottles, a section of the wall was different, almost invisible. He pushed, and the wall yielded.

The hidden room was small, with a single, small window. On a table in the center, a tarnished silver locket. He picked it up, and felt a rush of both recognition and profound sadness.
