John sat in his car, parked across the street from Sarah's apartment, staring at the front door. He'd just seen her embrace another man. He'd been dating her for six months, planning a future. He'd thought she was the one. Now, the world was spinning.

He felt a deep, raw ache in his chest, a physical manifestation of his distress. He stared blankly ahead, unable to process what he'd witnessed. His hands were shaking. He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white.
