John sat on a park bench, the setting sun painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. His father had just died, and he had been left with nothing. He felt empty, numb. He saw the wallet on the ground near him.

He picked it up, feeling nothing. He opened it, and money spilled out. Enough to change his life. He pictured his life, a future he had given up on.

He felt the sudden, unexpected weight of the wallet in his hands. He was alone, and he had nothing to lose. The choices were laid bare. The world blurred around him. The air seemed thin.
