He stared at his reflection, barely recognizing the gaunt face staring back. His eyes were bloodshot, rimmed with dark circles. He hadn’t slept in two nights. The guilt gnawed at him, a persistent ache in his stomach. Alex had been devastated when he found out.

He sat on the edge of the bed, feeling the cool sheets against his skin. Every sound now felt amplified. The rustle of paper, the click of a pen, the soft breath of his roommate across the room. He felt trapped.

He kept replaying the events. Each replay brought a new wave of shame. He closed his eyes, wishing it could all be erased.
