The rain hammered against the windowpane, mirroring the relentless pounding in Leo's head. He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white, the leather cold and unyielding. The encounter with Chloe earlier that day still played on repeat behind his eyes. He’d tried to jog her memory, to prompt a flicker of recognition, but only found a polite indifference.
