"I need a moment," I said, my voice tight. Dr. Ramirez was gone. My world had fractured. How would I finish the project? How would I navigate the next two years? I felt a sickening lurch in my stomach.

I excused myself from the meeting and fled the room, heading toward the nearest bathroom. Leaning against the cold tile wall, I closed my eyes, fighting back tears. The thought of starting over with someone new felt daunting, a mountain I didn’t know how to climb.

Back in my dorm room, I sat, paralyzed, on my bed. The textbooks, once a source of comfort, now seemed to mock me. Sunlight streamed through the window, but the room felt cold, the air heavy with a sense of foreboding.
