Gemotions

The sight was a punch to the gut. Emily saw the destruction from her kitchen, the tree on her neighbor's property completely destroyed. It had always been a source of joy for her. She had often watched the birds that would sit on its branches.

She had a dentist appointment scheduled. She hated dentists. This was not the day for it. She sighed, her breath clouding the glass. She felt a knot in her stomach.

She turned away, trying to focus on something else, anything else, but the image was burned into her mind. She poured a cup of tea, but couldn't bring herself to drink it. She felt completely drained.
