He stared at the list, the paper trembling in his grasp. "Learn to speak Spanish fluently." The thought of it made a coldness spread through David's limbs. His father, a man of quiet determination, had been planning to take language classes. David, caught in the endless cycle of his anxieties, found himself paralyzed. He sank down onto the floor, the list crumpled in his fist.
