The vibrant colors of the painting seemed to mock him. Kai stood across the gallery, arms crossed, trying to understand what was happening. He’d received a phone call from a friend, and now, here he was. His stomach was twisting, and he could barely breathe.

He felt a deep sense of betrayal, of having his trust violated. He felt a deep sense of anger. He'd never signed any agreement. He'd never intended for that piece to be sold, let alone displayed.

He wanted to tear the painting from the wall, to destroy it, to reclaim his lost control. But he knew he couldn’t. He just stood there, paralyzed by the feeling of being wronged.
