Gemotions

The cocktail in Sarah’s hand trembled. She’d always struggled with confidence. Now, here, in front of everyone, was her painting. Her very personal painting. The one she thought was hidden away. The one that was meant only for her.

She felt a tingling in her fingers, a sensation that spread up her arms, a shiver. She felt lightheaded, as if she might faint. People were talking. They were admiring her work. But all she could feel was mortification.

She wanted to shout, to run. But she was rooted to the spot, a prisoner of her own creation. She quickly finished her drink and made her way to the back.
