Gemotions

The house seemed to shrink around me as the shadows of the evening grew. The consistent calls from the same number, the way he would leave the room to take them, the hushed tones of his voice – it was all eating away at my peace. The rhythmic ticking of the grandfather clock in the hall was too loud, each tick a hammer blow.

I found myself pacing the living room, my steps mirroring his earlier movements. I sat down and picked up his phone, then quickly put it back down, afraid of what I would find. I felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, about to fall into a dark abyss.
