The new office was an upgrade, with panoramic views of the city skyline. But he couldn't appreciate it. The transfer to the legal department had been unexpected, and the new role, the expectation, was something he could barely wrap his head around.

He found himself constantly rubbing his temples, as if trying to massage away a headache that had taken hold. The air conditioning was set too cold. The air made the skin on his arms raise. He kept replaying the conversation he had had with his former boss.

The paperwork seemed to multiply before his eyes. He read and reread each page, certain he was missing something. He did not feel he could ask for help. He was alone.
