Gemotions

A feeling of displacement washed over him as he entered their shared flat. The air felt charged, different. John felt the back of his neck prickle. He heard a muffled sound from the bedroom. He pressed his ear to the door, hesitating.

Inside, his partner, Adam, was speaking on the phone. The language was not the usual English they shared. It was a rapid-fire, melodic tongue that John didn't recognize. When Adam saw him, his face went pale.

"Oh...hi," Adam said. He ended the call quickly, a nervous energy radiating from him. John found himself taking a step back, a well of feeling bubbling up inside.
