Gemotions

I traced the outlines of the photographs with a trembling finger. The story of my great-aunt, a woman whose life had been dedicated to charitable works, was one of selflessness. Yet, the photos I found showed her in exotic locales, draped in jewels, laughing with men who looked far from philanthropic. A strange pressure built in my head. I felt a growing sense of detachment, as if the reality was slipping away. I pushed the photos aside, unable to meet their gaze any longer.
