Gemotions

The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting a sickly yellow glow on Sarah's face. The air in the elevator was already starting to feel thick, heavy. She fidgeted, pulling at the collar of her blouse, a nervous habit she’d been trying to break. The silence was deafening, broken only by the hum of the stalled machinery and the ragged breaths of her coworker, Mark. He was staring at the control panel, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"So," she began, her voice a little too high-pitched, "do you think they'll get us out of here soon?" The question hung in the air, unanswered. She crossed her arms, a shield against the growing confinement.

Mark didn't respond for a moment, his gaze still fixed on the buttons. Finally, he turned, his expression grim. "Hopefully. This is… unsettling." Sarah swallowed hard. The thought of being trapped with him for an extended period, in this cramped metal box, sent a cold shiver down her spine.
