The announcement came during a seminar, projected on the screen behind Dr. Evans. For Mark, it was like the ground shifting beneath his feet. Professor Ito was leaving. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine. He immediately began to catalogue all of his work.

He found himself fidgeting, constantly adjusting his glasses. He looked around the room, at the other students, their faces mirroring his own… disquiet. He found himself staring intensely at the professor, as if trying to decipher a hidden meaning in his expression.

After the seminar, he fled the building, the air outside suddenly feeling too thin to breathe. He felt a strong desire to run, to escape the implications of the information he had just received.
