The harsh fluorescent lights of the storage unit seemed to amplify the silence. Maya stared at the letter. Her aunt's resignation, drafted from her position at the university. She’d always seen her aunt as the epitome of success. The letter painted a very different portrait.

The handwriting, usually so neat and precise, was frantic, filled with crossed-out words and hasty corrections. It spoke of a career destroyed by gossip, by backstabbing colleagues, by a climate of fear. Maya felt a growing agitation, a restlessness that she couldn't quell.
