The phone felt heavy in her hand. Sarah stared at the real estate listing that had just been emailed to her. It was for the house next door, the one where Mrs. Peterson lived, a woman who always wore the same cardigan and complained about the noisy squirrels. The house was being sold for millions. Millions! A strange, tight knot formed in her stomach. She felt a sudden, urgent need to understand the world around her, a world she now realized she knew so little about.
