Gemotions

The old library, with its musty book smell and hushed tones, usually offered comfort to Leo. But today, the familiar surroundings felt alien. He ran his hand over the aged leather of the worn, leather-bound volume he'd found hidden inside a hollowed-out book. He hadn’t put it there. The inscription on the inside cover, in his own handwriting, was proof enough. The date on the back of the book was a date he barely recognized.

He flipped through the brittle pages, a growing sense of... agitation stirring within him. He saw illustrations of places he'd never visited, faces of people he'd never known. He finally reached a series of handwritten notes. The words seemed to jump off the page at him, a silent scream of a life lived, a life he couldn’t place. He dropped the book.
