He stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. The boy staring back was a stranger, with eyes that lacked their usual spark. Daniel scrubbed at his face, as if trying to wash away the cloud of suspicion that hung over him. He felt hollow, as though his insides had been scooped out and replaced with something cold and hard. He couldn't eat, couldn't concentrate, couldn't find any joy in anything. He'd always prided himself on his integrity, and the accusation felt like a deep cut.
