Eliza felt a constant ache, a dull throb that followed her everywhere. The world felt dull, grey, devoid of colour. She sought solace in an old bookshop, her fingers trailing across the spines of countless volumes. She picked up a worn copy of *The Great Gatsby*.

She began to read, searching for a distraction, a momentary escape from the emptiness. Then, a note fell out, a single sheet of paper.
