Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread usually filled Amelia's kitchen with joy, but today it only made her want to run. She stared at the patent denial letter, the paper crinkling in her grasp. Her automatic bread maker, designed to make perfect loaves every time, was now nothing more than a failed experiment. The kitchen, the heart of her home, suddenly felt like a prison. She dropped the letter on the counter, then promptly kicked it, watching it slide against the cabinets, as if to say, “get out!”
