Gemotions

The casual chatter of the morning was gone, replaced by a tense silence. The announcement was a bomb that went off, shattering the illusion of stability. I felt a knot of dread in my stomach. The future, previously a roadmap I was planning on, was suddenly foggy and unclear.

I avoided eye contact with my coworkers, afraid of what I would see in their faces. Their familiar faces, once a source of comfort, now felt like strangers. I felt a tightness in my chest, a physical manifestation of the anxiety that had taken root.

I found myself staring at the wall, at the framed picture of my family, the image a painful reminder of everything that could be lost.
