Gemotions

The stale air of the office pressed down on him, suffocating him. He hated everything about his job, the endless meetings, the pointless reports, the feeling of being a cog in a machine. He felt a constant low hum of frustration.

He visited his childhood home, trying to find some semblance of peace. In the attic, he unearthed a dusty box containing his mother’s old documents. He found a letter.

He stared at the handwriting, familiar yet distant. The letter – a resignation, from her position as a librarian, from 1985. The words spoke of a dream gone unfulfilled. He felt a stab of sympathy, and then a wave of resentment towards the life he was living.
