Gemotions

The air crackled with a strange tension. His son, Ethan, had announced he was now a devotee of the Hare Krishna movement. He felt an odd lightness in his head, a detachment as if he were watching the scene unfold from a distance. He ran a hand over his face. He blinked. He blinked again. He felt as if his body were filled with static.

He sat there, perfectly still. He felt the need to apologize for something, but couldn't quite grasp what that something was. He watched the sunlight filtering through the blinds, painting stripes across the rug.

He found himself whispering, barely audible, “How… how long have you been thinking about this?"
