David pulled his hoodie tighter, even though the evening air was mild. He’d just bumped into "Rose" at the grocery store. Her avatar’s freckles, the same vibrant green eyes, the nervous gesture of pushing a stray hair behind her ear… it was her. His pulse hammered. He hadn't told her he lived in this city. A sudden, potent anxiety coiled in his stomach, as if a predator was stalking him. He rushed to the checkout, barely acknowledging the cashier, eager to escape the suffocating closeness.
