"This isn't happening," she muttered, the words barely audible. The words repeated in her mind, a frantic mantra. Her best friend’s baby shower. She’d spent weeks planning it, crafting handmade decorations, baking the cake.

Her breath came in shallow, rapid gasps. She clutched her handbag, her knuckles white against the leather. The bustling terminal, filled with chattering passengers, suddenly felt incredibly isolating.

She pulled her phone out and saw a missed call. Her friend. She wanted to scream. She had to be there. The delay was crushing her. It made her feel like a prisoner.
