The email notification popped up on Jessica’s phone just as she was about to eat dinner. She set down her fork with a clatter. Her appetite vanished. The words in the email, the stark accusations, slammed into her.

She excused herself from the dinner table, claiming a sudden headache. Alone in her bedroom, she paced the floor, her mind racing. The accusations rang in her head.
