Gemotions

The familiar classroom. The familiar desk. The familiar Mrs. Evans. The memory of the way she'd criticized his reading level in front of the class flashed through his mind. His stomach churned. He looked at his son, Ben, with his bright eyes and easy laugh.

He swallowed hard, the muscles in his throat tight. He would do everything he could to ensure Ben had a better experience. He resolved to be involved. He would show up for every single event. He would make sure Ben always felt supported. He would be the parent he had needed.

He made a silent vow as he watched Ben head into the classroom, his backpack swinging.
