The world seemed to tilt on its axis. "Postponed indefinitely," the message read, a line of cold, impersonal text. She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. Her meticulously planned outfit – a vibrant dress she'd chosen specifically for the occasion – suddenly felt heavy and ridiculous. She started to fidget, picking at a loose thread on the sleeve. Why? How? She needed an answer, some explanation. She reached for her phone, intending to call, but her fingers fumbled on the screen. The phone slipped from her grasp and clattered to the floor. She stared at it, unmoving, feeling as though the ground beneath her feet was about to crumble.
