The doorbell rang, startling Amelia. She peered through the peephole to see a delivery driver holding a large, oddly shaped box. The address was correct, but the name – "Silas Blackwood" – was not. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

She took the package, offering a shaky smile. She quickly shut the door and leaned against it, breathing deeply. The box felt too heavy to be reasonable. She looked around the apartment, a sudden sense of disorientation washing over her.

She quickly put it in the guest bedroom. The room, which she rarely used, seemed to amplify the feeling. She grabbed her phone, scrolling through her contacts, looking for someone, anyone, to call. Her fingers fumbled on the screen.
