Gemotions

"Oh, for crying out loud!" Karen exclaimed, snatching the mail from the mailbox. The dog. Again. She dropped the letters and stomped back to the house, muttering under her breath. Her stomach churned with a mixture of anger and something else, something she couldn't quite name.

Inside, she slammed the door, the sound echoing in the silent house. She felt a sudden urge to clean, to scrub away the lingering feeling of the dog’s transgression. The thought of confronting the neighbors filled her with a strange, unpleasant dread.

She felt like everything was off balance. She ran water to wash the dishes, trying to channel the nervous energy into something productive. The water seemed cold against her skin.
