He hadn't slept a wink. Alex stared at the ceiling, the shadows of the morning light dancing across his face. Coach Davis had called him for a meeting. It was all he could think about. He had a knot in his stomach.

The world seemed to sharpen into focus, but the details were blurry. He felt an intense pressure building inside him, like he was trapped in a box that was slowly shrinking. He got out of bed and started pacing, his footsteps echoing in the empty room. He could not calm down.
