Gemotions

The weight of it, the unspoken betrayal, settled in her stomach like a stone. She closed the browser, the images still burned in her mind. She felt a rising heat in her chest.

She went to the kitchen and made a cup of tea, her hands clumsy. The simple act felt strangely foreign, a ritual she’d forgotten. She wanted to scream.

She looked at the tea, the steam rising. She knew that she would have to deal with this, to talk to her daughter. But not yet. She needed to take a breath first. She had a sense of dread.
