“Well, isn’t this a surprise?” My wife smiled, gesturing towards the television. The opening credits of a popular TV show rolled across the screen, the theme song… was mine. Or, at least, it sounded like mine. There were alterations. A few subtle changes. But it was definitely "Whispers in the Wind."

I crossed my arms, feeling my face flush. They'd never asked to use it. Never contacted me. I hadn't heard that song in years, let alone seen it on TV.

I found myself picking at a loose thread on the sofa cushion, my gaze glued to the screen. The jaunty tempo of the theme song seemed to mock me. A wave of bewilderment and something else, something harder to define, washed over me. I wanted to smash something.
