Gemotions

The tiny enclosed space was starting to feel like a coffin. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the hammering of her heart. She glanced at the security camera, the red light a silent, unblinking eye.

Her hands were clammy, and she wiped them on her pants. The scent of her coworker’s cologne, which had been pleasant earlier, now felt cloying and irritating. She pressed her back against the wall, as far away from him as possible.

“Do you think we’ll be here much longer?” she asked, her voice cracking slightly. Her coworker shrugged, his expression neutral. The ticking of the seconds felt like a death knell. She longed to feel solid ground under her feet again.
