The news hit him like a punch to the gut. He stood frozen, staring at the screen. Professor Ito, gone. His own carefully constructed future shattered like glass.

His heart pounded. He felt a sudden, desperate urge to flee, to escape the confines of his small apartment. The walls seemed to close in, suffocating him. He grabbed his coat, his movements jerky and uncoordinated.

He needed air, he needed space. He slammed the door behind him and stumbled out into the bustling city, the noise and chaos a jarring assault on his senses.
